Sleeping Pendulum 2019
assemblage, 42 x 16 x 8 cm
As a child, I remember being fascinated with the workings of a pendulum clock. Invented back in 1656, it uses a swinging weight, the pendulum, as its timekeeping element. As long as the clock mechanism was kept wound, the weight would continue to swing in a regular manner and rate. If you forgot to wind the clock, the pendulum would be given a rest. My fanciful vision of such a “sleeping” pendulum is manifested in this simple and structurally efficient piece.
