Rachel Hale

Delight 2022

Photograph, 61 x 91 cm

@ Rachel Hale

The vibrant seven-armed starfish, Astrostole scabra, is one of the larger seastar species found in Aotearoa New Zealand. They are nomads and never make a permanent home. This one was found attempting to hide under a boulder on a beach off Nuggets Road, South Otago. There is still so much to discover and delight us. Life on Planet Earth is diverse and weird and wonderful. We must protect it.
