Smoko Time 2021

Nelson College has been running trips in the Mataki valley since 1968. I processed this image in black and white to highlight the timelessness of this tradition. This could be any class from the past 50+ years. Old boys past and present talk about and cherish their journeys in the Mataki valley, often sharing details of the routes they took. Young men never forget their time at Mataki lodge and in wilds of the Mataki valley. Connecting with the outdoors to foster team work, kaitiaki, tikanga, and deepen awareness of nature has never been more important to build young men for our future society in Aotearoa.
