Imagine sea-level rising in Nelson. I took this picture in Glenduan.
We know that rising temperatures are causing ice melt in Antarctic leading to sea-level rise. How much sea-level will rise l depends on how soon we are able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Global average sea-levels are predicted to continue rising for centuries into the future. There is now more evidence that even slight warming of sea-surfaces could affect the stability of ice shelves in Antarctica. This could result in multi-metre rises in sea level over the coming centuries.
This will be devastating for us and for the Earth's biodiversity.
