Tina Marshall

Priveleged 2021

Photograph, 61 x 91 cm

@ Tina Marshall

This is a moho pereru (Banded Rail) fledgling walking light of foot on top of swamp plants at Abel Tasman National Park. I felt privileged to see an entire family of these 'at risk' birds feeding in the fading sunset, and have been back several times since to see if I can spy them again. I have, and that's something to celebrate as it tells me they can co-exist with the huge amount of hikers/visitors to the park, albeit cautiously and mostly hidden out of sight.
