A solo exhibition of painting and prints exploring the theme of flowers; the phenomenon of their explosive colour and how they instantly make you feel happy.

Artist Statement
Louise D’Amico is an emerging artist who has lived in Hume all her life. She identifies as having an intellectual disability. Louise has been prolific in her making and active with local arts groups and exhibitions over the past several years. Louise also shares her creative skills by facilitating workshops. Her favourite mediums are printmaking and acrylic painting, while she also enjoys card making and photography.

Louise has a profound love of flowers. They motivate her creative explorations and have become a regular theme in her art work. Throughout 2020-21 Louise has focussed on developing her art practice, using her creativity to stay connected to her community by regularly attending art programs and participating in various exhibition opportunities, both face to face and online. These activities have enabled Louise to expand her creative skills and create a united body of work for this exhibition;

“Producing work for Ability to Make has allowed me to explore my love of all flowers; their colours and shapes and how they are all different. I have been able to develop my knowledge and skills in colour, acrylic painting and printmaking (monotypes).

This body of work tells a colourful and bold story about my love of flowers and how these make me happy. I have used only the primary colours."
